Having some of the largest Instagram followers, it is safe to say that South Korean K-pop stars are one of the biggest influencers in the world. From chart-topping hits to sold-out concerts and Kpop artists who are true-blue artists, it only makes sense that high-end fashion brands want these stars to wear their creations. Take it from BTS who have their tour outfits custom-made and designed by Kim Jones for Christine Dior. Considering all these, are Korean celebrities starting to become the future face of high-end fashion?
Korean Superstars
G-Dragon made the first fashion leap for Korean superstars when he partnered up with Nike to release limited edition sneakers – which obviously sold out in just a few seconds. But that’s not all, this Korean musician and fashion ‘It Boy’ was also a Chanel ambassador. On the other hand, Kai of the popular K-pop group Exo is a face of Gucci, as well. Another K-pop star that’s taking the fashion scene by storm was Lalisa Manoban of Blackpink.
Milan Fashion Week
Just yesterday, the star was spotted at the Milan Fashion Week, gracing the front seat of the Prada show. The crowd went wild as the Thai performer arrived to the venue and made her way to the front row, alongside popular personalities such as Caroline Daur, Chiara Ferragni, Tamu McPherson, and Yoyo Cao. While Lisa is enjoying the Prada show, K-pop star Lee Ji-eun or popularly known as IU, turned heads at the Gucci show. She wore a beautiful pink gown from the latest spring collection of the aforementioned brand. Gong Yoo – who is considered as the Brad Pitt of South Korea – made appearance, as well.
But the influence of K-pop stars doesn’t stop there. Taeyang of Bigbang walked for a capsule collection of Fendi that sports hoodies and jackets, while Blackpink’s Rosé is the latest muse of Yves Saint Laurent designed by Anthony Vaccarello. K-pop sensation Hwang Minhyun also arrived to Milan Fashion Week to attend the Moncler Genius Show last February and Park Soo-young, as known as “Joy” from Red Velvet was spotted leaving the Micheal Kors fashion show in New York. The performance also hyped up the Miu Miu’s AW19 show in Paris.
Burberry and MiuMiu
At the Burberry SS20 show held in London, Lucas Wong of NCT was spotted attending the event. Another Red Velvet member, Bae Joo-hyun or popularly known as Irene, got some serious attention at Miu Miu’s AW19 show at Paris Fashion Show. This K-pop star’s fashion style was described as youthful yet refined due to her playful approach on Miu Miu wool and Chloé twill – both statement pieces scream polished and sleek.
To provide these luxury fashion brands the attention they needed to remain in the spotlight, they never fail to invite global super group Blackpink and many other well-known K-pop groups. The members were seen in shows of Celine, Chanel, Burberry, and Saint Laurent. BTS performers are always seen wearing the latest fashion looks that are way beyond the normal streetwear. They have sported fashion pieces from Gucci, Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Chanel, and Valentino.
